CURRENT PCDA OPPORTUNITIES:
Executive Director (Part-time - 8 hours/week, flexibility in schedule)
Honorarium: $12, 600 per annum

Overview:
The PCDA is seeking an executive-level leader with demonstrated experience in a medium to large national or provincial membership organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees a range of the organization’s functions while demonstrating a commitment to the PCDA’s mission, vision and implementation of the strategic plans in order to drive the organization forward.
We seek a leader who can work collaboratively with a dedicated volunteer Board and Executive committee. This individual must exhibit success in collaborating with diverse stakeholders sharing common interests and values so that the goals of the organization are pursued in a transparent, and participatory manner.
Direct experience in the field of primary care dietetics is not required, though knowledge of the profession will be considered an advantageous asset.
The successful candidate will have a proven record in strategic planning and execution, fundraising, external relations and building partnerships, managing budgets, a creative approach to marketing and branding, strong experience in advocacy, and comfortable with being the face of the organization. Along with these skills, some of the essential personal attributes we seek include being collaborative, team-oriented, empathetic, and to possess emotional intelligence.
Primary Care Dietitian Association Overview:
We are here to support and advocate for dietitians working in primary care across Canada. We started as the Family Health Team Registered Dietitian Network in 2006 and have grown over the years to now include dietitians working in NP-led clinics, community health centres and team based primary care settings.

The PCDA officially launched in April 2020. As a group of dietitians, we are here to support one another in our practice and share our knowledge base to support best practice within primary care.

Equity Framework
​
One of the PCDA’s current strategic focus is the creation of an Equity Framework, centered on anti-racism, to inform PCDA’s governance, policies, and culture. Since its formation in 2019, PCDA has established the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee with this group dedicated to engage the Canadian dietetic community and advocate for DEI within the profession.
Staff Collective
The PCDA Board and Committees are expected to work cooperatively with others; demonstrate flexibility in organizing work; show a high degree of initiative, discernment and resourcefulness; have effective communication skills; and demonstrate thoughtfulness in decision making. Board and committee members must be willing to work within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks.

Provide thoughtful leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering.

Develop, in conjunction with the President and with input from the Board, a go-forward strategic plan for the organization

Oversee the operations of the organization and its Monthly funding cycle

Establish operational plans, goals and success metrics in collaboration with the Board, Executive, and volunteer members
-
Organize and motivate team members to facilitate the advancement of the organization’s programs and fundraising, including the Annual Conference.

Continually foster a culture that encourages collaboration and recognizes positive contributions

Take an active role in onboarding and, where applicable, compensation
-
Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next evolution of the organization’s application and financial systems
Board Governance

Attend monthly Executive Board Meetings and Board Meetings, providing reports and updates on the organization's status.
-
Maintain ongoing and open communication with the Board Chair, Board and its committees, to build strong relationships while ensuring deliverables are met.

Implement Board policies and procedures and build support for Board decisions amongst team members.
Development and Fundraising

Drive the development of a fundraising plan, and lead its execution leveraging the Executive and Board as needed.

Initiate and foster relationships with the organization’s corporate sponsors.

Support the development of a programming strategy, in partnership with the Executive and others.

Develop quarterly reports, in partnership with the Executive team.
Financial Management and Administration

Provide strategic leadership and management for the administrative and operational functions of the organization in accordance with the mission, objectives, and policies

Work with the Treasurer to build and administer the annual operating budget, with Board approval
-
Manage all financials within budget guidelines and maintain healthy cash flow and adequate reserves
-
Assume responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the organization

Support the Accountant and Treasurer through our fiscal year end and annual audit.
External Relations and Communications

Represent the organization and serve as chief spokesperson for any media opportunities (supported by select Board members)

Present and promote the organization and its mission, programs, partners, and members in a consistently positive manner

Collaborate with the Communications, and Social Media and PR and Marketing Committees on the organization’s marketing and public relations
Qualifications:

Demonstrated commitment to the PCDA’s mission, vision and values

Considerable experience at the executive/senior leadership level will be advantageous for the successful candidate

Strategic thinker, ability to look ahead, identify and capitalize on future opportunities in order to facilitate growth and sustainability of the organization

Demonstrated success in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans
-
Strong fundraising experience including building relationships with governments, not-for-profit partner organizations and other stakeholders
-
Knowledge and understanding of financial management, creating annual budgets, requirements for incorporated organizations, and Canada Revenue Agency requirements
-
Demonstrated awareness, knowledge, understanding, and application of anti- oppression, anti-racism and/or equity frameworks and willingness to uphold these frameworks within all activities of the organization

Experience working in non-profit organizations and working with Board of Directors is an asset 5 or more years experience at a senior leadership level is highly preferred Masters Degree in Business, Administration, Health Science is an asset
